Omega-3 user guide online
Published June 18th, 2007 in Children, General Interest, Health, Health News, Health and Wellness, Life, Mental Health, Nutrition, Omega-3, Parents, PopulariHealthBulletin newsletter provides tips on optimizing omega-3 fatty acids intake for health and mood.
Even though omega-3 fatty acids are often in health news reports these days, I find that many patients are confused about omega-3s. They may have heard that fish is healthy for them, but they may not like fish, or might not like preparing fish. Some people are eating more fish, but choosing varieties of fish that are high in mercury. Others are looking for omega-3 supplements, but do not know the differences between flax seed oil and fish oil, and are under-dosing because they are unaware of suggested dose ranges. To help address this confusion, our most recent issue of the monthly iHealthBulletin newsletter reviews the basics of omega-3 essential fatty acids and how one can safely obtain a beneficial amount of the longer-chain omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) from food or supplements. Ideas for helping children and adolescents safely get these essential fatty acids are also presented. To receive your copy of our free monthly e-newsletter, sign up at the main page of our site www.iHealthBulletin.com now. Existing subscribers will receive the latest issue very soon.
